Originally from County Durham Emma trained in French classical pastry methods at catering college earning the title of Student Chef of the Year 1989 for New College Durham.
She then became a pastry chef within the team at the Gosforth Park Hotel and was fortunate to have a Parisian patissier as her mentor. She was asked to create a birthday cake for Kylie Minogue with only twenty minutes' notice, a task she proved highly capable.
Emma left the UK at the age of nineteen to work in hotels within the Channel Islands, Jersey was a thriving place for tourism and little did she know it would be her home base for over twenty years.
Here she later established her own style of bread and patisserie, drawing upon her own learned skill set and developed her own range of handmade puddings and was awarded three gold at The Great Taste Awards in London in 2010 at Fortnum & Mason.
Considering she had only began her handcrafted business six months before as a newcomer to the awards, the star ranking was deemed exceptional. Emma supplied Waitrose, The Channel Island Co-Operative, a restaurant group and local farm shops with her Light as a Feather Sticky Toffee Pudding across the islands of Jersey & Guernsey. Receiving endorsements from Rick Stein, Cyrus Todiwala, Tony Singh OBE's and Grace Dent.
Her fine dining & catering clients include South African President FW De Klerk, Lord Jersey and Loreal.
She has created birthday cakes for Kylie Minogue, DJ Schak and The Hoffman Institute to name a few.
Her career has included working with the BBC and ITV in the Channel Islands, journalism for Jersey Evening Post and Gallery Lifestyle Magazine. Emma was a brand ambassador for Nielsen Massey Vanilla & Rodda's Cream in The Hague and London's Excel for Food Matters Live 2016.
